When designing my "Do Something" poster campaign, my mission was to create a design that shined a light on mental health, a cause championed by DoSomething.org. My objective was clear I needed to craft a visual that would not only raise awareness but also serve as a call to action for those affected by mental health issues. The poster had to be more than a design; it needed to be an inspiration of hope, informing individuals that assistance is within reach and they're not alone in their struggles.
With the aim to resonate with a diverse audience, my design strategy was centered around the principle of empathy and support. The poster's tone had to be encouraging, yet informative, a delicate balance that would invite those in need to reach out. I chose a color scheme that conveyed warmth and a comforting embrace, making sure the poster felt approachable.
My visual concept featured the silhouette of a head filled with words and symbols, depicting various mental health conditions, sending a clear message: these are common challenges, and there's no need to suffer in silence. I included the crisis hotline numbers to transform the poster from a static image into a potential lifeline, offering real help. My design for the "Do Something" campaign was not just a piece of art; it was a tool designed to bridge the gap between silence and support, a reminder that help is just a call away.
